Everything Nice Sweets and Bakery Brings Sweet Touch to Downtown Kenansville

A new bakery is in town, and you know I had to check it out. Funny enough, the day I walked is was the opening day. I had no clue, but lucky me, right!

The bakery is located on Front Street in Kenansville

Taylor Watchore started playing around with selling baked goods from home after she and her husband Chad, had their first child and moved back to Duplin County. She was a high school graduate of East Duplin High School and moved to Charlotte to go to culinary school. She and her husband were both living the fast life as high-end chefs in Charlotte. Taylor said they spent a lot of late nights working in the food industry, so after they had their first child, Izzy, they decided to move back to her hometown of Beulaville to be closer to family and to live a slower-paced family life.

It was the cutest thing watching them work together. I bet you can guess who the real boss was!

Everything Nice Sweets and Bakery is located right downtown, Kenansville, next to 210 Productions. To make it even better, it is just 3 doors down from Front Street Brewtique, so you can get your coffee and sweets all in the same area. This was a genius business idea if I say so myself, and I definitely grabbed myself a coffee to go with my desserts during my visit.

After adjusting to their new life, Taylor decided to start baking at home, and before she knew it, her homemade desserts were selling like hotcakes. That’s when she decided to open Everything Nice Sweets and Bakery, and she said that although her husband took on a regular 9 to 5 job, he was right behind her, backing her all the way.

Can we just take a break to say I loved how they decorated this place! When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was the vibe. I felt welcomed and ready to take some selfies when I saw her cute selfie wall, because who doesn’t love a cute selfie wall?

It was giving, "very cutesy, very demure", as they say.

I ended up trying Chad’s French Dip sandwich, named after her husband. It was roasted, shredded beef, provolone cheese on a hoagie bun served with Au Jus.  I love how she has items on the menu that her family loves. She also has the Izzy grilled cheese named after her daughter. The meat was very savory. I didn’t even need to dip it, but the Au Jus added a little extra juiciness. I also loved how the bread was toasted. I was pleasantly surprised, but I don’t know why because, I mean, they were chefs. LOL!

Check out this perfectly grilled sandwich!

For dessert, I had to try the lemon blueberry cupcake. It wouldn’t normally be my first choice. I typically go for the yellow cake, white frosting with sprinkles, cupcakes, but since it was so popular, I had to give it a try.

My camera died, and I was forced to take this with my phone. This picture doesn't do it any justice!

I liked it. It was a light cupcake and very well-made. It was light and fluffy, just like like my cupcakes. I was a little worried the lemon or blueberry would be overwhelming, but it was just the right amount of each flavor. I never thought I would be adding lemon blueberry to my list of cupcakes that I like, but you never know until you try, right?

Outside of the things I tried, she said some of her best sellers on her first day were the lemon blueberry cupcakes, club sandwich, and the chicken salad sandwich, which she says is her mom’s recipe. When she had her home-based business, she said that on top of the lemon blueberry cupcakes, strawberry shortcake cupcakes, brown butter chocolate chip cookies, Hershey bar cupcakes, and decorated birthday cakes were all her top sellers. Man, I can’t wait to try those cookies. Although she doesn’t have all of the items in store right now, her goal is to bring all the favorites into the shop eventually. Right now, she plans to open during normal business hours, 9-5, as she is expecting downtown workers to be her main clientele. She also plans to open up on Saturday. With it being her first day when I came in, she said she is playing it by ear to see what the demand is before setting final hours. She said she is willing to stay open later if the demand calls for it.

Here are some of the items that were being sold the day I was there.

Overall, I give Everything Nice Sweets and Bakery an A+! Have you tried it out yet? If so, let me know what you think of their food so far!
