My love for sauce started as a child. I was never a fan of the taste of meat(other than pork), so I would always drown my meat in sauce to avoid tasting the meat. No, I am not and have never been a vegetarian, but that was just the way it was. It began with the basics, ketchup, ranch, and mayo, then as I got older, I started to discover there was a whole new saucy world out there, and I never looked back. Seeing that my last name is Branch, and my favorite sauce as a child was ranch which was 95% of my name, I have been the center of many jokes over the years. I actually even gained the nickname of "B-Ranch" from one of my coaches, and I still have swag with that name on it to this day. Well, my brother kidnapped my favorite sweater with it on it, but I guess I won't kill em'.
Now that you have a taste of the history of my love for the sauce you can probably imagine my excitement when I found out that March was National Sauce Month! An excitement that a human probably should not feel when thinking about food, but you know, accepting you have a problem is the first step, right? Sauces are liquids or semi-solid foods that are added to other food items. They can also be an accompaniment for other foods and used as added moisture or visual appeal. They are life's best flavor enhancer. There is no limit to how you can use sauces. They can be hot, cold, creamy, pure liquid, sweet, sour, spicy, and the list goes on and on. Anyone who likes's to mix it up, probably loves sauces.
This month I plan to highlight a sauce every Friday to give you something fun and tasty to incorporate in your weekend meal plans!
If you have a favorite sauce you would like to learn more about, drop me a line and I just might write about it!
